Lunar Lander is the classic physics challenge that has been testing pilots since 1979 โ and now it's free in your browser. Guide a tiny lunar module down through the void onto a procedurally generated moon surface, balancing thrust, rotation, and a strictly limited fuel supply. Land gently on the pad and you've earned it; come down too fast and it's a spectacular crater. No downloads, no accounts, no sign-ups โ hit START and the engines are yours.
Your lunar module starts high above a new moon surface that is randomly generated every round, with one clearly marked landing pad of green and white checkered stripes somewhere along the terrain. Gravity is always pulling you down, so thrust is your only way back. Rotate the ship to point your engine against your descent, and ease yourself onto the pad at a gentle speed.
You have 100 units of fuel and one simple rule: if you touch down on the pad at a safe speed, it's a perfect landing. Hit the pad too hard, drift off the pad, or run out of fuel, and it's a crash.
Desktop: Hold the Up arrow or Space for thrust, Left and Right arrows to rotate the ship. Press P or Space to pause and resume.
Mobile: Hold the โฒ or ๐ฅ button to thrust, โบ and โป to rotate, and โ to stabilize the ship level.
A successful landing scores 1,000 base points, plus 15 points for every unit of fuel you keep, a speed bonus for how softly you touch down, and 500 more for landing on the pad. The perfect run โ full fuel, near-zero speed, dead-center on the pad โ is worth roughly 3,120 points. Even a crash earns a small score based on your remaining fuel, so every attempt contributes to your leaderboard.
Lunar Lander grew out of an even older classic and became one of the earliest games to use real Newtonian physics as its core challenge. This browser version honors that tradition with authentic gravity and thrust vectors, exhaust particle effects, a crash explosion for your hard landings, and a local high-score leaderboard tracking both successes and crashes. It's one of the free classic games on ZenClick โ see how gently you can touch down.
